In my opinion, Lion Babe is established and ready to roar. When I asked them what to expect for in for 2016, they responded that they were excited to have a bigger project out so they could “do what they what they love and establish themselves as Lion Babe.” With “Begin,” my expectations were met and surpassed. Tracks like “Impossible,” “On The Rocks” and “Got Body” are the perfect additions to your “night out” playlist.Īt the end of the year, I made Lion Babe one of my “artists to watch” for 2016. Not ready to give into soul just yet? Not to worry, there are plenty of tracks to pick from the diverse album. It was released on February 5, 2016, by Interscope Records and Polydor Records. Their third album, 2020’s ENERGY, was aptly named, with house, breakbeats, disco, UK Garage, electro, soul, R&B, hip hop and a globe-trotting array of percussion. The incredible vigour of those early records, the spark of invention and ever-onward musical thrust, remains with the Disclosure brothers, Howard and Guy Lawrence, to this day. In a time where soul music is unfortunately lacking, Lion Babe’s take on tracks like “Satisfy My Love,” “Treat Me Like Fire” and “Hold On” bring hope to the future of the recent soul movement. With their latest single and of the hottest tracks that should be on everybody’s radar, “Where Do We Go” is ready to climb the charts and dominate the dance floors. When it comes to a debut album, some artists can falter with adding the smashes from their EP and “forgetting” the rest. “Begin,” the perfect title for their first album was released just under two weeks ago. With a solid EP and a major collaboration in the books, the biggest question next was, “Where’s the debut album?” Well for fans, new and old, the wait is over. During my interview with the two last year, Hervey said, “ was a departure from what we do, but it was an amazing way for us to get a new audience and to be a part of the album.” Mixing the modern soul sounds from Lion Babe and the throwback yet futuristic Disclosure beats, it was a perfect collaboration. The track, “Hourglass,” was an absolute banger. As my likeness for them had grown, a surprise was waiting for Team Lion Babe: a collaboration with superstar DJs Disclosure. With eye-catching videos for “Jump Hi” and “Treat Me Like Fire,” I could instantly tell their success was not going to be short lived. While their debut self-titled EP was released at the beginning of 2014, things really started heating up for Jillian Hervey and Lucas Goodman. LION BABE BEGIN ZIPPYSHARE FREE
